Site preparation began in December 2021. The intense dry weather and hard soil made the site meant that substantial infilling was required to level the project area. Project management was led by Gold Energy Company engineer Myo Naing Oo overseeing a team of 130 workers. A total of 6,807 pile foundations were laid to enable solar tracking.
Implementation
Drawing on the experience of the Thapyay Wa project, implementation efficiency improved by approximately 20%. Solar PV energy generated per panel is also higher at this site. The implementation included pile foundation, and installation of brackets, solar panels and all electrical components under international standard guidelines.
Technical Details
A total of 45,980 panels has been installed on the site, each capable of generating 545 watts of solar PV energy.
The BOO project involves the supply of 20 MW of solar power to the national grid for 20 years.
The solar energy is connected to the Thapyay Wa substation – part of the national grid – via 6.05 miles of 33-kV transmission line, also built by Green Power Energy.
